I live in a 100+ year-old home in Raleigh, North Carolina, with my wife Libby and our two dogs. I was raised in Tennessee, the son of a minister and a caterer — and from a young age I learned that service is a way of living, not just doing.
I earned a BA in Religion and Philosophy from Belmont University and a Master of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond. While unconventional, this path prepared me for a broader vocation: supporting people and communities in meaningful ways.
After two decades in people services — working with large corporations, small businesses, and nonprofits focused on food and housing insecurity — the example set by my parents continues to inspire me.
My work focuses on fostering employee engagement and building inclusive, supportive workplace cultures where both employees and organizations can flourish.
When I began thinking about what would represent my work, I wanted it to be intentional, hopeful, and deeply rooted. I wanted it to tell a story. It started with a single word: "upstream."
Too often we focus only on the challenges right in front of us — urgent, visible, demanding. But it's just as important to look upstream and explore the root causes and systems that create those challenges in the first place.
Water sustains life. A single pebble dropped into still water sends ripples far and wide — its impact felt long after the moment has passed. We are that pebble: entering your organization not to overwhelm, but to create thoughtful, meaningful movement.
